"My life compass was calibrated here. I am glad to have the opportunity to give back to UNCG for the education and life experience I received here."

I have many ties to UNCG. My mother and her two sisters were graduates of the Woman's College, and my first cousin attended as well. We liked to say that "WC" stood for "we can." The college produced strong, assertive, open-minded women.

I was a student-athlete, playing basketball long before we were a part of the NCAA. We played teams like Guilford College, Greensboro College and what was then High Point College. I learned so much from our coach, June Galloway, and from my class advisor and mentor, Rosemary McGee. I was fortunate enough to work for fourteen years as a teacher and coach and then enjoy a twenty-five year career in printing and publishing, and no matter where my career took me, I remembered the lessons they taught me.

As I approach my 50th Class Reunion, I am fortunate enough to be working for the university that helped to shape me. I wanted to give back to the students who are here now, but as a single woman, I had concerns about my future financial needs. I needed a way to pay forward all that I received at UNCG without a significant cash outlay right now, and naming UNCG as a beneficiary in my Will was the perfect solution.
